Greetings From Duke of Richmond Lodge 3143 - East Sussex, Britain
March 2010

Earlier this year Guilford Lodge #656 was pleased to receive greetings from Duke of Richmond Lodge 3143 in East Sussex. Their letter reads as follows:

Dear Worshipful Master,

In consequence of a national historic records survey throughout the English Constitution, certain documents were found within our own vaults which shed light (especially for the younger brethren of our lodge) on two of our most treasured possessions, which are always on display at The Master’s Table during Festive Boards. These items are a Presentation Plaque and a Silver coin (No. 1656) both of which are of great interest to us, our new members and our guests.

The documents found relate to an accompaniment dated 15th September 1980, signed by Bro. A. Albert Phillips (Master) and Bro. G.W. Corrington (Secretary) accompanying the Silver coin, and we were most pleased to make these discoveries. As the current Master of our lodge, we send greetings, and enclose a copy of one of our Centenary Books, together with a Centenary Breast Jewel as a .

token of our esteem; and sincerely hope that we may be able to re-kindle the association between our two lodges, which was set up by W. Bro. William (Bill) Fuller who was Master in our Lodge in 1998.

In conjunction with his friend, a member of your lodge sometime in the late 1970’s we think. Unfortunately, Bill Fuller is not in the best of health these days, and is currently registered blind, but never the less still remains in great spirits. As 2009 draws to a close, we wish you and all the members of your Lodge well, and sincerely hope that in 2010, we can again develop the accord between our Lodges that so obviously existed in the past. Wishing you all the very best of the Seasons Greetings, and a very prosperous new year. Yours sincerely and fraternally, W. Bro. Peter E. Noakes, P.Pr.G.Swd.B Master. The Duke of Richmond Lodge 3143

Present that night was W. Bro Al Phillips, who shared his memories in regards to that friendship. Guilford Lodge 656 is very honored by the Duke of Richmond Lodge’s kind words, and look forward to strengthening our ties across the pond.
